I’ve been stupidly busy of late and not able to post as much as I would like. But I’ll definitely try and do better in 2025. I am more active on the Banburian Facebook page (sometimes easier to share things on the fly there) so you can always follow me there as well to make sure you don’t miss anything.
In the meantime. Just a list of things I have noted of late and which are relevant to our collective local interests.
The Banbury Cross Round Table’s annual visits from Santa are happening all over town – we saw him just last night.
The Christmas Tractor Run raised over £70,000 for Katharine House Hospice this year!!! Come on, ya gotta be impressed. Last year was about £50,000 so quite the uptick. Did you line up for the tractor run? What did you think?
Anyone check out the new Costa at the train station yet? I was there earlier in the week (it opened on the 16th, I believe) and I have to say, it’s a much nicer place to sit now. Of course, in a perfect world, it would have been an independent shop. But I can’t quibble too much with the new arrangement. Especially as I spent so much more time waiting for trains these days – yeah, I’m looking at you Chiltern. The delays, late arrivals, overcrowding is now more common than not and it’s becoming super tedious. Do better.
Connie’s Café will be reopening on 2nd January 2025 with a new menu and a new kids menu – check them out on Facebook.
Had you forgotten about Steamhouse coming to Banbury? I almost had. But there is an update on Instagram!!
Oh and speaking of new – I was delighted to have a chance to visit Afro Cari Brit Exotic Foods – the new shop on Church Lane – the other day. I am a huge fan of specialty shops and an even bigger fan of specialty food shops. I need to do a post just on those, I think. Bao Giang Supermarket on Parsons is another I think it’s always worth popping in to. Parsons itself is like eating around the world.
So – with that, I bid you all a good weekend and a happy holiday from everyone at the Banburian. Let’s make 2025 the year of trying new things, celebrating local treasures and sharing great finds. I promise to share as much as I can – here, on Facebook, on Instagram and on Threads. Join me there, won’t you?
